The L.A. Times Proposition 8 donation meter understates the Yes-on-8 tally. No surprise, there, since the L.A. Times officially opposes restoring traditional marriage. Pro-marriage forces have donated over $25 million to date, rather than the $19 million on the paper's money tracker. But the more interesting numbers to me are how much cash on hand both sides have to spend in these closing weeks before election. By my count,
Yes on 8 has over $12 million on hand as the poll numbers climb for 8. Meanwhile,
No on 8 appears to have about $3 million.
I got my numbers from the Secretary of State website today by adding up the larger donating entities' cash on hand as of 9/30/08.
