Some people are surprised by the anti-Prop.-8 vandalism. Frankly, I'm surprised that the Yes on 8 campaign made it as far as it did before the sign burglars, thieves and assaulters turned themselves loose. Cheating nature causes internal turmoil. Human psyches can't live with it. People either repair their behavior or else they rationalize it and commit more. Rationalization of unnatural acts is fundamentally dishonest. Nature shouts and kicks back--it's the most stubborn thing of all. But some humans stand against nature, calling down "up," up "down, good "evil" and evil "good." What kind of citizen shall such a sensual and dishonest person be? Is it any wonder, really, that they are apt to vandalize? The deadly sins tend to come in clusters. Lust won't be bottled or caged, and it brings with it company.
